BNSF Railway

Engineering Services Intern

May - August 2018 • Seattle, WA

What I liked

Great opportunity to be outside of the office more often than not and to travel to different locations in your division.

What I wish was different

I wish I had been able to complete my own project and not just spend the whole summer shadowing people.

Advice

You should really be enthusiastic about the railroad or else you will not likely enjoy this job.

Engineering Track Intern

May - August 2017 • Whitefish, MT

What I liked

Being in western Montana was perfect for me. If you enjoy hiking, you can go to Glacier National Park every weekend because it is so close. This is exactly what I did. The people I worked with were really kind and wanted me to learn as much as possible too. They pay well and give you a relocation stipend as well.

What I wish was different

I wish there were other interns in my region, but it wasn't too bad working with all middle aged men.

Advice

Find a place to stay early on. You will be travelling a lot, so have reliable transportation or request for them to give you a rental (only if you are 21+). Also, because you will be travelling a lot, do NOT stay in Whitefish. The town is beautiful, but more expensive than the neighboring towns. Kalispell would be a good location.
