Camp Fletcher, owned and operated by Camp Fire Alabama, was founded in 1926 by Pauline Bray Fletcher, the first African American R.N. in the state of Alabama. Since 1982, Camp Fire has continued Pauline’s vision for the healthy development of children and families through summer camp and outdoor education field trips. Camp Fletcher’s beautiful 300-acre is an ideal setting for programs based on Camp Fire’s philosophy: an emphasis on small groups, individual attention, acceptance of differences and a loosely-structured child-centered approach. Programs focus on appreciation of the outdoors, skill development, concern for others, fun and friendship.
