Redwoods Summer Analyst

June - August 2020 • Denver, CO

What I liked

I was able to work on a healthcare and specifically patient-focused project that kept me excited and engaged throughout the summer. Additionally, even in a virtual environment, I still felt surrounded by my amazing cohort of interns as well as an incredible team.

What I wish was different

It definitely would have been preferred to be in-person, but given the circumstances, I think the company did a fantastic job with the remote experience.

Advice

In any summer internship, learn as much about the company and the people as you can! While the work itself is both important and valuable, your experience will be shaped by the people you're surrounded by.

Redwoods Summer Analyst

June - August 2020 • Denver, CO

What I liked

I wanted an internship experience where I could grow both my quantitative and qualitative skills while making an impact and my summer was incredible with DaVita! DaVita’s culture is very unique, and they pride themselves on their core values (service excellence, integrity, team, continuous improvement, accountability, fulfillment, and fun) which play a huge role in your everyday work. The Redwoods program is focused on building leaders and focuses on bringing in the top talent to train to be company leaders. There is so much executive exposure and opportunity when you’re a Redwood, and I’m super grateful to have been a part of the program! DaVita is full of incredibly smart, kind people, and I'm so grateful to have awesome friends to return with. Everyone is highly motivated and wants to make a positive impact on the world.

What I wish was different

Our internship went virtual due to COVID-19, but I am super grateful we still were able to do good work. I even became friends with people I've never met in person which just speaks to the caliber of people DaVita recruits!

Advice

Feedback is a gift! I’d highly recommend asking for feedback weekly so you can progress your projects and professional growth at the fastest pace. Feedback allows you to continuously learn and grow! Set up coffee-chats from day 1 to get to know teams within the Village (company). By talking with analysts on the team you can sense what teams may be best for you to come back to.
