Investment Banking Intern

January - August 2020 • San Francisco, CA

What I liked

Awesome team who are all super nice and willing to help interns learn and grow!

What I wish was different

With there was at least some stipend to cover transportation costs

Advice

G2's internship program gives valuable insight into the investment banking industry, especially the type of work one should expect, in addition to the caliber and attention to detail required.

What I liked

Excellent people and professionals. Quality work

What I wish was different

Had to seek out quality work, not a uniform standard for interns, unpaid

summer analyst

June 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

Culture encourages Interns to ask questions. Great learning experience where you will get exposed to as many parts of the M&A process as you can handle. The internship is what you make it, you could do SF entry all summer, or take on real work and contribute to the firm. Got to sit in on client calls, and meetings

What I wish was different

More valuation / modeling work. Paid would have been nice, but if money is not an issue and you want to learn the IB process this is the internship for you.

Advice

This internship really is what you make it. The guy sitting next to me did SF entry all summer, while I was building client facing decks, sitting in on MMs, building market maps, creating live / non-live updating excel models. They also will tell you, you do not have an opportunity to work with Camber (PE firm that is G2's sister Co.) but if you prove yourself and express interest in Camber style work, you can get experience at a PE firm focused on turning around distressed companies. (two of the four interns including myself got Camber work) Camber and G2 are two different entities so you can add Camber as a second internship.
