HARTING, Inc. of North America

Electrical Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Elgin, IL

What I liked

I had the freedom to tackle projects in my own way. There were plenty of opportunities to create new procedures and tools for the staff to use as well as improve existing ones. It felt less like and internship and more like a full time position.

What I wish was different

I wish I had gotten in touch with other departments earlier. I ran out of projects for my department fairly quickly so I didn't have significant work to do for a few weeks.

If you run out of work, do be afraid to start developing a new skill. With internships it's common to have nothing to do for a few days. Use that time to teach yourself something that employers will find valuable.
