Hill Holliday

Marketing Intern

June - August 2019 • Boston, MA

What I liked

This was an amazing experience, I got to work in an advertising agency on actual pitches. The best part was how well structured the internship was with plenty of resources to learn about my future career track.

What I wish was different

It was very short lasting only about 2 months. I wish it had lasted the entire summer until the start of the school year.

Advice

While there meet with as many people as possible. Everyone is extremely talented and you can learn a great deal from them.

Marketing Analytics Intern

June - August 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

I liked the autonomy and responsibility I was given to work on projects. I like how much I learned during the internship (especially with using R and creating complex marketing research surveys).

What I wish was different

I wish it had been a bit longer (10 or 12 weeks instead of 8).

Advice

Even if you don't think advertising is a field you want to go into, I definitely recommend trying an internship in advertising because you can learn so much about marketing during it.

Account Management Intern

June - August 2018 • Boston, MA

What I liked

Though I learned a lot from my mentor and the day-to-day tasks I was assigned, this internship was mainly so rewarding due to a friendly competition between interns in teams of 10 that involved a hands-on, industry-standard new business pitch and two agency-facing presentations.

What I wish was different

Because there were so many interns (40 in total across various departments), most of us had to be placed in our own big intern room away from our mentors. It would have been nice to feel spend more face-to-face time with the team I was working with and learning from.

Advice

Definitely take advantage of the fact that most, if not all, of the employees at Hill are very friendly and passionate about what they do. If you're interested in a department or account other than the one you have been assigned to, reach out to someone who works in that area regularly and you'll surely receive some sort of learning opportunity in return.
