About NYS Parks and Recreation

Allegany State Park, Salamanca, is New York State’s largest state park. Known for its wildlife, it contains 65,000 acres of mature forests, three lakes, several streams and rolling country side, and offers a full range of outdoor fun for all four seasons. The park has two developed areas, Red House and Quaker, each with sand beaches, picnic areas, museums, hiking trails and naturalist led environmental education programs and walks. Nature lovers, photographers, hunters and anglers have discovered that Allegany has something for everyone, including interns!
