I really like being outside and learning about sustainability of Weber State University. Water conservation is big in Utah and I first hand got to see the technology and methods for this conservation.

More hands on experience and being able to actually work on more of the important projects.

What I liked

I get to meet and work with so many different people. I learn to plan and execute events, submit presentation proposals, present at conferences, help facilitate trainings, and track and use data. There are so many other things that I have been able to experience through this job that have helped me to grow as a student, a person, and a professional!

What I wish was different

Honestly, I can’t think of anything that I would do differently. If there is ever something that I feel like I need experience in or something that needs tweaking, my boss and our team of Mentors are right there to help me find those experiences and integrate them into my work environment. Being in this job has been like being a part of a family of very intelligent and compassionate individuals that enjoy helping others and increasing their knowledge wherever they can.

Advice

Have an open mind and be willing to take on new challenges. Don’t overwork yourself. It is easy to get overwhelmed with the things that you need and want to do, but take a step back and be willing to ask for feedback and help when you need it.

The research in the field of SpEd students who graduate and their transition into vocational or educational goals that they have for their adult lives.

What I wish was different

The sporadic hours. One week I worked 60 hours and another week I didn't work at all. I pretty much had to be at their beck and call.

Advice

You need to be flexible and keep your summer open to drop what you are doing, with sometimes just a day's notice and drive to different locations to do the research.

What I liked

I liked the staff and all my co workers. It was an environment that made me feel good and like my job. I was going to work with a smile on my face because I actually liked it. Also I liked how they were flexible with the schedule because I was taking classes at the same time so they worked around my schedule.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have stayed but I got an offer from the IT department and that's more related to my major so I had to leave.

Advice

I think that towards the end the schedule started to get messed up. There were so many new people hired and nobody was getting enough hours and everyone was not happy.
