Youth Volunteer Corps

About Youth Volunteer Corps

Our Mission:
We engage youth in team-based service experiences that build life and work skills while inspiring a lifetime ethic of service.

Our Vision:
Communities defined by compassion, selflessness, and respect for others.

Youth Volunteer Corps is Unique:
Youth Volunteer Corps (YVC) began in 1987 as a summer service program for Kansas City youth. Today, YVC is a network of affiliated organizations across the U.S. and Canada running that same program by engaging youth ages 11-18 in team-based, structured, diverse, flexible service-learning opportunities.

Our Four Fundamental Goals:
1. Engage youth in service projects that are challenging, rewarding and educational.
2. Serve the needs of the community and its residents.
3. Cultivate a greater understanding and appreciation for diversity.
4. Promote a lifetime ethic of service in youth.

Team Leader

“This was an 8 week program, and every week was different and unique! This job was all about service and forming leaders in today's youth. I loved getting to share my passion of serving with the youth and being a part of their growth throughout their adolescence. The kids, management, and projects were all amazing.”

“The job was very challenging and very meaningful. I got to collaborate with a lot of Non-Profit Organizations in and around Kansas City, as well as lead a group of teenagers in their service projects. ”
