I liked being able to travel and live with host families because it's a good way to see and get to know the country that you're living in. I also loved working with kids at camp, and was provided with really good learning materials so I had a structured way of setting up lessons. My favorite part was learning about how to teach English as a foreign language and different methods for setting that learning in place.
What I wish was different
I would have liked to receive more advice on classroom management, because as a first time tutor, I hadn't had much experience working with children and so while I was prepared for actually doing lessons, I didn't feel quite as prepared for managing the students in class.
Advice
Bring stickers and gifts for host families from home because they will become very useful!

What I liked
I loved the opportunity to live with different host families and be completely immersed in Italian culture; the camps I worked at were incredibly well-organized and a lot of fun!
What I wish was different
I wish there had been more training prior to the orientation week, which was fun and engaging but a bit overwhelming at times.
Advice
Be prepared to be unprepared! Challenges you weren’t taught about in orientation will come up and you have to adapt and overcome a lot! And also be sure to not take yourself too seriously around the kids because they are there to have fun!

Advice
To anyone who is interested I would say do it. Don’t hesitate just because it may be outside your comfort zone. Work or study outside the country if you can.
