Able Medical Devices

Engineering intern

April 2019 • Gwinn, MI

What I liked

I loved the environment that Able brought to the table and everything about the job was amazing. Getting to work along side of life long engineers is truly amazing and the knowledge is unbeatable

What I wish was different

Nothing. Everything was great about my ongoing internship from the people to the work I am doing

Advice

Don’t be afraid to learn and try new things and fail. Everyone has to start somewhere and sometimes failing is one thing that has to happen for you as an Intern or worker to grow and learn.

Process Engineer Intern

May - August 2019 • Gwinn, MI

What I liked

Amazing team, work environment, and Marquette Mi was a phenomenal place to live. Was given a handful of engineering projects that I could own and I really learned how to think like an engineer. Due to the company’s small size I got to do work in lean manufacturing, quality engineering, process engineering, loads of documentation and learning about the QMS. I always felt safe, and well respected and cared for as an employee and person. Great experience, would recommend to anyone.

What I wish was different

I was offered a position but didn’t really know what I would be doing until I got there. It turned out to be even better than hoped for, but I wish I would have had a better heads up as to what I would be working on.

Advice

At this company in particular - though this applies to any internship, the team I worked on was full of cream-of-the-crop engineers. Ask questions and listen to them talk, be a sponge. Also, take advantage of the town, there are so many places to go hiking and many town festivals - theres always something to do. Hangout with the team outside of work when they invite you.
