Sales enablement intern

May 2021 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

There was an emphasis on personal development and I had lots of opportunities to network within the company and learn about the area I worked in. I was given projects to work on to gain experience and enjoyed the culture.

What I wish was different

The internship during this time was remote during covid so I would have enjoyed seeing what it was like to be in the office.

Advice

Take advantage of the resources you’re given as an intern. Make sure to meet new people and ask about their experiences and spend time on personal development during times you’re not busy working with your team.

Data Analytics Intern

What I liked

Avnet's prestigious intern program consistently facilitates exposure to C-suite executives within the company, pairs interns with a high-quality manager, and wraps the intern group together for weekly events. The intern class consists of 20+ students with varying backgrounds, majors, and schools- leading to a diverse group of students to network with. I particularly appreciated the endless support from my direct managers & the meaningful projects that were assigned to me.

Advice

Approach the internship with an attitude that encourages any sort of learning curve that is required of you. Prepare to learn how to leverage classroom learnings into a real-world business approach.

Marketing Intern

May - August 2019 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I liked the way interns are treated in the sense that interns get to work on real projects alongside full-time employees instead of being given just simple intern tasks. In my specific internship, most of my learning was also done through action instead of having a long training period which is how I learned the material and tasks quickly.

What I wish was different

None to be addressed

Advice

Take advantage of the exposure to the leaders and executives! As an intern, you have access to get on these individuals’ calendars and set up coffee chats etc with them.

Supply Chain Analyst Intern

May 2019 • Tempe, AZ

What I liked

I loved the company culture and learning. Everyone was extremely kind to me and I had a learning opportunity every hour of every day. I have never felt so welcomed somewhere and it made me excited to go into work everyday. It was also a nice change of pace from being in school and doing homework. I couldn't have had a better experience.

What I wish was different

I wish the drive would have been a little better for me. I live about 40 minutes away from the job which is difficult but it's an amazing place so it's worth it.

Advice

Don't underestimate yourself. I went in very timid and wound up loving the experience and the more I opened up, the more I learned.

Global Audit Intern

May - June 2018 • Phoenix, AZ

What I liked

I loved the way that the internship program was organized, not only was I able to do valuable work but I was also given the opportunity to meet the company's CEO, CFO, CMO, CIO, and CTO. I was also very fortunate to have been with such a great team, everyone was very accepting and more than willing to help me when I needed it.

What I wish was different

N/A

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions and don't feel like your questions are numbered. Of course it is important to learn and to try and problem solve but sometimes you will have to ask for a little help. If you have an experience similar to mine you'll realize that what you needed to know was a small detail in the grand scheme of things but you may not have been able to find that out on your own.
