Certified Nursing Assistant

May - August 2019 • Johnson City, TN

What I liked

I liked getting to work one-on-one with patients and other healthcare providers. I learned a lot about patient care and formed really good connections with the nurses that I worked with.

What I wish was different

I wish there would have been more staff available to help. Almost every night we were shorthanded (most of those nights I was the only tech on the floor) and it made things really difficult.

Advice

Be diligent and work hard! You have to stay on your toes to get everything done in time and sometimes the other staff members require a lot of you.

CNA

July 2019 • Johnson City, TN

What I liked

Getting into a hospital and seeing new things, new methods of treatment and ailments.

What I wish was different

I wish the job was more interesting, I mean you made not be exactly bored while whipping feces off of someone's back but changing bedding, taking vitals, helping people eat and move and fecal clean up and assistance gets boring. I want something more interesting and challenging. Also you DO NOT get paid enough for what you deal with. But untimely I'm glad I did it I just don't want to stay as a CNA.

Advice

Get over social formalities of nudity and excrement. If your actions and movements show clear intention then you and the patient will feel more comfortable. :)

What I liked

I enjoyed that they trained me on the job and no previous experience was required. It is a very stable job with lots of really great people.

What I wish was different
