I loved working with the students over the summer and becoming a mentor for them. This was a very humbling experience for me.

Some of the other staff weren't well suited for the position and did not perform the job properly.

Patience, working with teenagers can be difficult at times, but just be patient and everything usually falls into place.

The responsibility of watching over a group of high school students while they interacted with preschool students at Mi Escuelita Maya Preschool and Children's Performing Arts.

What I wish was different

I would have wished for more guidance and structure as to how I should supervise or tasks that I could have assigned that contributed to their learning.

Interact with everyone as much as possible so that you can get to know the students, staff, and preschool children as much as possible and foster the relationships you are developing.

It was a great experience to help mentor to the youth from the area. I was able to share my knowledge of college, the admissions process, and early adulthood.

I wish that we had the opportunity to take them to more of the local community events and locations.

It helped build my leadership skills, as well as going on many trips, such as Niagara falls. The staffing team became more personal.

I wish there was better communication between the employers to the employees.
