Black Knight Financial

Risk Management Intern

January - August 2018 • Jacksonville, FL

What I liked

I enjoyed interacting with my fellow employees. They made me feel like part of a family, and they were incredibly kind.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more chances to use my programming skills. There weren't many opportunities given the nature of the work.

Advice

3 Things: - If you are out of state, bring a car. You'll need it to get around. - If you're ever confused about something, try your best to reach out to your seniors. They're often more than willing to help you out. - Be humble.

Product Strategy Intern

January 2018 • Jacksonville, FL

What I liked

The internship was extremely in-depth and allowed many different opportunities to learn about other parts of the company. Every week, the program would have a guest speaker teach a specific topic that related to Black Knight specifically, or business practices in general. The internship program also had several chances to compete with other interns on specific tasks. At the end of the program, interns were given the opportunity to present a topic of choice in front of the entire executive team. Overall, the program was extremely enriching and allowed many experiences to grow as an employee and a person.

What I wish was different

Overall, I wish that the internship program had been longer. I am still working for the company, however there are few interns who I still work with. I believe it would be beneficial for the program to extend for a longer period of time to those who stay at the company. I enjoyed all of the experiences I had over the summer, but I would have liked to had more of those opportunities throughout the entirety of the year while I am still in school.

Advice

One piece of advice I would give to anyone beginning an internship program is to be open minded and learn as much as you possibly can. When I began my first internship, I came with extremely high expectations and many preconceived notions about what the experience would be like. However, the internship was not what I expected at all. The program far exceeded my expectations and gave me experiences I never planned on having. I networked with many different people and learned crucial business practices that can't be taught in school.
