What I liked

I really liked the exposure I got to the entirety of the organization. Although I was primarily shadowing a planner in the Home Department, I attended monthly company-wide meetings at which the executive committee gave important updates. I also worked with a small group of interns on a project to advance Bloomingdale's competitive strategy. At the end of the internship, we presented to an audience of 100 people, including the executive committee. Everyone was extremely friendly and approachable!

What I wish was different

I wish that housing could have been subsidized in some way. It was difficult to find somewhere to stay for the internship because I am not from New York. I ended up staying in an NYU dorm, however, and absolutely loved it!

Advice

I recommend being open to whichever role you're placed in- don't be set on the department you want to work in because you will be randomly placed. I loved working in the Home Department! I'd also recommend that you network with various people in the organization. So many employees genuinely want to help you and will be great connections for the future.
