Blue Grass Airport

General Aviation Service Coodinator

May 2019 • Lexington, KY

What I liked

I love the hands on experience I get at my job and the networking opportunities I am given. The community at Blue Grass is incredible, I never feel left out. They did an excellent job of providing me with the proper training and working with my student schedule. Best supervisor I have had the pleasure of working for.

What I wish was different

When I first started communication wasn't as strong as I wanted it to be, but has significantly gotten better.

Advice

I would highly encourage asking for advise from your professors, advisors, parental guardians, older siblings, etc. They have all been through the interviewing process before and the information they can give you can mean the difference between having a job or having to apply somewhere else.

Operations Specialist Intern

January - May 2019 • Lexington, KY

What I liked

At Blue Grass Airport, everyone is extremely friendly and welcoming. Within the first few weeks, I was made to feel like part of the team and that I wasn't just an intern people would forget about. When I needed help, multiple people were instantly there to help me figure out a problem and there was never a day when I didn't want to show up to work.

What I wish was different

To be honest, there is nothing I would change about how the internship is run. From day one, you are learning what it takes to keep an airport Part 139 compliant and it is great experience and knowledge that I will keep with me through my career.

Advice

One piece of advice that I would give to an incoming intern is always be on your feet and ready to jump on any opportunity to go out and learn new skills. While sitting in an office can be relaxing, it is a truly great opportunity to get out on the airfield and see how an airport operates commercial and general aviation services.
