Blue Medora

Product Management Intern

May 2018 • Grand Rapids, MI

What I liked

In addition to being primarily educational, I actually was able to contribute in a significant way to Blue Medora, including programmatically consolidating a few disparate tools the the Product Team was using, as well as writing user stories for a product that actually got built. In addition, it is a fun workplace where people joke around with each other and have lots of conversations unrelated to work. I have made a few friends, including my immediate boss/mentor.

What I wish was different

I would have liked to get more consistent feedback from my boss about my performance, but he gave me a great review at the end of the internship, so I guess I did well.

Advice

Don't be afraid to have fun if you see the people around you having fun. If you like the company culture, participate in it!

Software Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Grand Rapids, MI

What I liked

The job was very flexible and working in a medium sized start up allowed me to work directly on the main product with the other engineers.

What I wish was different

It was hard to connect with other interns in a different city.

Advice

Be confident in your abilities and know that the first couple weeks will be super overwhelming but when you surpass the learning curve you'll be fine.
