-Animals’ welfare was prioritized
-Checking in on us to make sure we were doing okay
-Learned more than already knew
-Gained a better understanding of how a wildlife rehabilitation center operates
-Staff would help when asked
What I wish was different
-Hoping to learn more about all aspects of rehabilitation
-Poor communication among staff resulting in conflicting information and confusion
-Felt like missed opportunities due to lack of organization. some people had repeated opportunities, while others didn’t
-Had to be taught by other interns on how to do some things
-Repeated assignments for several days straight despite being able to work with all animals and a good amount of interns/volunteers
-If criticism came with explanation, experience would have been better
-Some instructions were vague
Advice
Clarify confusing instructions or confirm what instructions have been given.
