Every person I've worked with at the BFAOV Foundation has taken the initiative to share their knowledge with me while also encouraging me to bring my own ideas to the table. I've been able to work on a variety of projects, in both leadership and supporting roles, that have simultaneously sharpened my skills in the (remote) workplace and allowed me to passionately explore avenues that can help a cause I believe in. I can take pride in the work I do on behalf of the BFAOV Foundation, and the support I've received from everybody I've worked with has made this internship a wonderful one.
What I wish was different
Nothing. Would love to be able to meet in person with my colleagues and fellow interns, but everybody has been great about meeting on zoom and working together remotely.
Advice
Don't hesitate to bring ideas to the table. Any initiative that can help the Foundation is appreciated, and you will never have to worry about a lack of support in pursuing project opportunities.

What I liked
The foundation places a lot of emphasis on only doing work that you enjoy and interests you, and will ensure that you find opportunities to do work that you like. The internship is very flexible and gives you a chance to choose how many projects you help with. Committee leaders are all extremely helpful, welcoming and encouraging. The work is really meaningful as well, and you’ll learn a lot about the history between the military and baseball, and the sacrifices our service members make.
What I wish was different
Nothing. If you are worried that a remote opportunity does not fit your interest, there are plenty of opportunities to get out an help in your own community, major league stadiums, and beyond.
Advice
Be open to learning new skills and reaching out to other committees or interns. The foundation has a lot of great people who are both willing and able to help. They’re super friendly and understanding, so come ready to work with others.

What I liked
All members are very passionate about the foundation's work, and as a fully volunteer-operated foundation, everyone is extremely invested in their projects. I was able to contribute significantly from day one, literally, and the team remained very open with encouraging my participation on calls and projects. They are also extremely interested in furthering your knowledge and education, and make it a point to make this a mutually-beneficial relationship. Extremely welcoming, helpful, and team-oriented.
What I wish was different
The overall process was very smooth, and communication was effective.
Advice
Be prepared to start immediately and come to the table with some unique ideas - don't be afraid to reach out!

What I liked
I enjoy being able to learn new skills through the teachings of team members who have professional experience. I also like that schedules are flexible, as well as the team work that is done throughout this opportunity

One piece of advice I would share about this experience is to be prepared to learn new skills. Being open to learning new skills from team members is really important because you can carry these skills in different ork settings.

What I liked
Ability to choose what committees you want to be a part of and what projects you want to work on for those committees. There are deadlines, but projects can be worked on at your own pace. There is a very friendly and welcome atmosphere, with people who are always open to suggestions and new ideas.
What I wish was different
So far my experience has been nothing but positive and I desire nothing to change.
Advice
Don't be afraid to share your opinion no matter what your position is. If you make a mistake, that is okay as long as you learn from it. There is a lot you can learn from the committee chairs, so be sure to pay attention.

Interning with the Foundation places a lot of responsibility on you, due to the freedom you have with this internship. It's on you to decide your role and what projects you want to be a part of. This is definitely a positive, and something to keep in mind.

I would highly recommend looking into this opportunity if you are looking into gaining new experiences and skills in a way that fits with your schedule as a student. If you choose to do it, I would recommend talking and learning from the committee chairs and executive committee as much as possible.
