Summer Intern

July - August 2019 • Tucson, AZ

What I liked

I loved working for a non-profit that was part of a larger network of activist groups. They had a very strong culture of caring for one another and checking in with each other regularly. It was a nice change from other jobs that were less personal and more focused on the amount of work you get done. They also really focused on helping me learn a lot and gave me a lot of flexibility in what I could do while I was there.

What I wish was different

There were some times when I wished I was closer to Phoenix just for purposes of visiting family, but I learned to love the location and I feel like I grew a lot from the experience.

Advice

Don't be scared to go for an internship with a lesser known organization just because you don't think it will look as good or you'll learn as much!
