Project Engineer Intern

May - July 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Great, family-like culture. Internship program helped me to learn more about the field and meet people in the industry. I learned a lot about job site safety.

What I wish was different

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions! They expect you to be fresh and need a lot of help getting started at work. It will be much easier to ask your questions than to struggle later.

Marketing Intern

June - September 2019 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

Although the Summer is the company's peak season and everyone seemed to be extremely busy, I was always made to feel like I could go to just about any person for assistance. In general, I felt extremely welcomed and comfortable asking questions when a task wasn't completely clear to me.

What I wish was different

Something that I wish had been different is if I got a bit more clarification on certain tasks, especially at the beginning of my internship. It felt good feeling like I had decision-making power but it was also stressful when I wasn't confident in how to approach an assignment.

Advice

Don't wait around for somebody to hand off a task for you. There is always going to be something for you to do, some people are genuinely just too caught up in their daily responsibilities to remember to stop and ask for your help. I felt like I was the most appreciated not when I completed large project, but when I simply went around and asked people what they needed help with.
