What I liked

I loved the atmosphere that the camp created for the campers. Besides the beautiful scenery of camp itself, camp was a safe space for the campers to take a break from their normal lives and to be fully emerged in a place where God's love is poured into them through the staff, their fellow campers, and the fun activities that they get to participate in. It was such a blessing to be a part of!

What I wish was different

I wish there could have been more flexibility with our work schedules. There was not much time off to visit family or friends during the weeks as camp runs on a tight schedule which made it hard to keep up with family and friends back at home or elsewhere. Perhaps a suggestion could be that the camp week could run from Monday through Friday or Sunday through Thursday rather than Sunday through Friday to give the staff time to keep up with their busy, personal lives as well.

Advice

My advice would be to come to this job fully ready to be used by God. There wasn't a day that went by that I didn't see God moving at camp, and He really changed my life at camp. Through that, He helped me pour into the lives of my campers and show His love to them. Camp is for the campers! :)

What I liked

I really enjoyed my experience at Camp Beechpoint this summer! Returning for the second summer in a row, I was able to connect on a deeper level with my co-workers. I love how dedicated the staff at Beechpoint are to teaching the children about the Gospel of Christ and His great love for them! I truly felt supported throughout my time working there.

What I wish was different

The one thing I wish had been different is the continuation of fellowship between staff members after the camp experience had passed. When summer ends, it is a hard time to leave those who you have been working so close with each day. I wish that the door of communication, prayer, and fellowship with one another would remain open so that can continue to support each other when we return back to our normal lives.

Advice

A piece of advice I would share about my experience is that when you work at camp, you must be fully dedicated. At the end of your summer, you will realize that it is only about sharing the love of Jesus with the campers. Everything we do at Camp Beechpoint is to enhance the camper's experience so that they may have fun and find God! In order to achieve this, you must be completely devoted to the mission of advancing the Gospel through everything you do while at Beechpoint!

Advice

It’s definitely worth it to remove yourself (if you live in more populated areas) and just focus on Christ’s work in teaching and leading kids who are in a difficult time in their lives.
