Advice

There's a lot of time out in the field! I spent a decent amount of time trekking through grass/buckthorn, cleaning out storm water drains, and even weeding raingardens. Overall a great experience. I still got opportunities to do some public outreach and GIS work as well.

Waterwark Manager

What I liked

I loved being able to be the leader I never had, but wished I had. At the end of the day it was very rewarding to be able to go home knowing you did your best job, and might have actually made someone's life a bit better. I also thought helping customers, and solving problems was also challenging yet rewarding.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had more training before being dumped into work. Going from lifeguard to coordinator is difficult but more training would make it easier.

Advice

Even though an opportunity might scare the living daylights out of you, it may also be one of the best experiences of your life.

What I liked

I liked working outside with people my age and helping patrons who were in trouble.

What I wish was different

I wish that I could’ve received more hours because our schedule only gave me about 25 hours a week. It would’ve been nice to have been able to pick up more shifts.

Advice

Do something you like doing with people you like. Having any job can be scary but be happy in whatever you are doing.

What I liked

I’ve been working for the City of Eagan for four summers and really enjoy the sense of community. Working with a team everyday is very rewarding. I enjoy all the people there and hope to do it for one more summer.
