Coding with Kids

Instructor

February - August 2019 • Bellevue, WA

What I liked

They have a responsive management are understanding of a flexible schedule.

What I wish was different

They can be a little unorganized as far as letting you know what to do to prepare for your teaching instruction. Materials and resources available to learn the curriculum and lesson plans should be improved.

Advice

This job requires class prep time and you should use this to completely prepare for a lesson in advance. Also kids can be very hard to teach, make sure you're prepared to deal with bad behavior.

What I liked

It was rewarding to see students passionate about coding and creating, it motivated me to find new ways to bring excitement to class. The experience was great as it allowed for flexible hours.

What I wish was different

Organization in the company was inconsistent, work schedule often changes and system errors lead to last minute bumps in teachings.

Advice

Have a passion to work with kids, and don't feel like you need to stick to the given schedule. It is a lot of improvising.
