Chemical Engineering Intern

June - August 2017 • Worcester, MA

What I liked

This was a very independent position. I had a boss to whom I reported, but he was never breathing down my neck. During my interview, he asked what I was looking for in a summer internship. I explained that honestly I just wanted to get some real engineering experience that will prepare me for whatever job I take on after school. Some engineering interns spend the majority of their time pushing paper, and I explained that I wanted more than that.

What I wish was different

Sometimes my project felt disorganized, but part of that is a result of the limited time frame of the internship. People were very nice, but it didn't seem like everybody loved their job. There were a lot of smart people in the office but the environment wasn't everything I could have hoped for.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask questions to anybody, because there's nobody that is not willing to help.
