What I liked

Everything about my experience was fantastic. As someone who is not pursuing a career in hospitality, this opportunity completely opened my mind to the prospect of doing such. From the GM to the associates, everyone working at this location is an excellent coworker & human in general. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who wants an internship located in the northern Chicago suburbs, regardless of major or desired career. The skills you learn and experiences you endure in a hotel environment are very beneficial to every day life.

What I wish was different

Scheduling was overwhelming at times due to a temporary lack of employees, but was still very flexible & the employee who creates schedules is very kind and understanding.

Advice

Be open to learning everything you can and apply yourself to different operations in the hotel. Get out of your comfort zone and learn something new. You never know until you try!

Pick a brand within Marriott that you want to work at because they will most likely offer you the same type for Voyager.

Advice

Pick a location that you have family or friends that you can stay with for free because Marriott does not help with relocating or finding a place. Renting out a place gets expensive and stressful.
