Intern

June - July 2018 • Hong Kong, Hong Kong

What I liked

Sometimes the work is not stressful and have no specific deadlines.

What I wish was different

Writing minutes of four hour long meetings (on average) was not fun, I did not understand and/or catch what people were talking about a lot of the time. That one time rushing on making a PowerPoint through the night, or working overtime.

Advice

I have done this internship twice, and both times were drastically different in terms of the project I was involved in and what I was asked to do. So the one internship you do at your company may not be representative of the whole scope of jobs you may do at a full-time job. However, full-timers are generally focused on one project for a lengthy amount of time and do generally the same stuff for months. I am an Economics major, but I did not use any of the stuff I learned from my Economics classes. I was not asked about my opinions but rather doing research and some writing specific to the project. Chances are majors are not that relevant to the stuff you are doing.

What I liked

After participating in this internship, I become more careful about the report and paper I hand in. Because I know that I have to be responsible to the work I did. And also, I met a communicateable leader which is a so great thing, and she told me that my ability of finishing tasks determines my work hour, so I have to concentrate on work during work hours and make fewer mistakes.
