Estee Lauder Companies

Research and Development Intern

May - August 2020 • Melville, NY

What I liked

AMAZING company culture! I had a great time - even during COVID with reduced capabilities, I still met many amazing people and had a great experience with the other interns. Everyone at the company was super welcoming, and they made sure our projects were actually important, and we had full ownership and responsibility for them!

What I wish was different

Obviously, capabilities were limited during summer 2020 due to COVID - but they were still able to bring us to campus in person and provide the best internship experience I've ever had.

Advice

Don't discourage yourself! I never expected to be offered a summer internship, and I'm blessed to be going back again. Estee has one of the most friendly interview processes I've ever experienced. While it is a competitive internship, give it your best shot!

Communications Intern

June - August 2020 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I enjoyed the weekly ELC education days where all interns came together to learn about various departments, brands, and the history behind the company. I also really enjoyed my weekly team meetings where we discussed everyone's weekly progress and projects.

What I wish was different

The internship was remote so I do wish it could have been in person but I understand due to these unprecedented times. I also wish there were more opportunities for interns to communicate with one another so we could network.

Advice

Do not be scared to ask for help. Everyone is so nice and just wants to see you succeed. There are so many different people you can reach out to for assistance if you need help on something you're working on or if you just have a general question. I recommend emailing the presenters who speak on the Education days saying thank you for their insight but also to network. Reach out to as many people as you can and ask to schedule a one-on-one meeting to connect and learn more about them/what they do.
