What I liked

I liked getting to do innovative research alongside a respected member of the electrochemical field in Cory Rusinek. It was especially rewarding to be able to present my work in front of a group of distinguished scientists who had similar involvement in the field.

What I wish was different

I would've liked a slightly higher pay.

Advice

Pay attention to exactly what you are doing to make sure you thoroughly understand the processes at hand. Also, read research articles that are related to your field of interest.

What I liked

I love to be able to work on my own specific work in the realm of a small team. This happy balance of independent responsibilities and teamwork that I found at Fraunhofer is a very beneficial experience as an undergraduate. In addition, the diversity of personalities and backgrounds in the office is very rewarding. I love to be able to work with and converse with employees and interns from across the world!

What I wish was different

The office is small, so there is not much opportunity for full time opportunities, but, regardless, my experiences have been very valuable and worthwhile.

Advice

Do not take this job lightly. Every project going on in the office is directly helping a client or a worthwhile cause. The work you will put in will be very challenging, so always ask questions! Everyone in research is there to learn and grow, and this experience will so beneficial for bettering your engineering skills and your success in the classroom.

What I liked

Virtually unlimited hands-on experience in cutting-edge research topics. The company is also very flexible in terms of schedule, so it is easy to work part-time while enrolled full time in classes.

What I wish was different

I wish the intern culture could be improved to foster relationships among the students.

Advice

Make sure your supervisor knows what your goals for the internship are, and what you are interested in. They will work with you to make sure you get the most out of your experience.
