George Junior Republic

Psychology Intern

May - July 2019 • Grove City, PA

What I liked

I enjoyed getting the experience of working within a special needs unit and being able to work 1 on 1 with the same kids throughout my time so I could build a relationship with them and see their improvements through the activities were were doing.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have gotten paid because I was essentially doing the exact same level of work as the other employees.

Advice

Be prepared for anything. Some days are good days and other days are rough. You have to be very flexible with what you are doing and have to really have thick skin.

Recreational Supervisor

May - August 2017 • Grove City, PA

What I liked

The overall atmosphere and environment at the workplace was extremely pleasant. I looked forward to going into work. I had great supervisors and coworkers who were friendly and helpful at all times.

What I wish was different

I can truthfully say there isn't much I would change. If anything, I think that more shift options could be implemented. For example, all recreational supervisors worked one shift and only one time slot. I think it could be beneficial to have the option for an AM versus PM shift, but still allow the option for an all day shift.

Advice

This is a great place to work! Go in with an open mind and work hard, it will definitely pay off.
