I realized the value of specific courses offered at Boise State. I wished I pursued a Construction Management Minor.

Advice

I would recommend to always keep a notepad and pen on yourself. Investing in office calendars to improve your record keeping of daily task will help greatly.

What I liked

Everyone was extremely welcoming and went out of their way to make sure I was learning new things. There were a lot of other interns I was able to work with which was really fun and the overall environment was amazing!

What I wish was different

I wish I had been there longer so I could've worked on a project.

Advice

As long as you show up with a positive attitude and do your best people will want to help you! Don't be afraid to get involved in the activities scheduled and make connections with your coworkers.

Transportation Engineering Intern

What I liked

I had fantastic coworkers that mentored me throughout the whole summer and provided support in all aspects of my job. I learned how to utilize transportation software and how to effectively communicate with clients. I did real meaningful work and contributed significantly to projects.

What I wish was different

I wish I had more opportunities to go out in the field for site visits.

Advice

Don’t be afraid to ask questions if you don’t understand the work you’re doing. Get to know your coworkers and attend work events - it’ll make the atmosphere of your office much more inviting. Don’t be afraid to speak up if you feel like something is wrong or you are not enjoying the work you’re doing.

What I liked

The people I worked with were extremely helpful and were always willing to answer questions. There were people with different expertise's and I got to learn a lot. I got to network and meet lots of people.

What I wish was different

Networking it extremely important along with clubs and other activities that may help make your resume look better.
