What I liked

I really got to apply my engineering knowledge learned in school and it was a challenging and fulfilling position.

What I wish was different

I wish I could have gotten involved with other people within my department and see a more broader scope of the R&D team.

Advice

Take advantage of the team allowing you to be self sufficient in some regards and set up some guideline/procedures for your self to be successful. Hold your self accountable for your work and don’t be afraid to take credit for your finishings and share with your team.

Marketing Strategy Intern

June - August 2017 • Akron, OH

What I liked

Throughout my internship, I was tasked with researching competitive retail strategies for the "Back to School" campaign while also running web analytics for our own campaign. I was able to learn a lot about what goes into preparing a marketing campaign from a budget standpoint as well as a strategic standpoint. At the end of the summer, I was able to report my findings to top level executives.

What I wish was different

I wish I had asked more questions throughout the process, not just for the sake of doing my job correctly but to learn more about the industry and the experience of my coworkers.

Advice

I would be open to take on challenges. During my internship, I was asked to complete tasks that seemed over my head or too difficult for me to do correctly with my experience. At the end of the summer I learned that you will never be able to grow if you don't take on challenges and try new things, even if you have to ask for help or clarification along the way.
