Heart and Hand Center

About Heart and Hand Center

Heart & Hand Center was founded in 2010 by Nikki Cady, whose volunteer work at homeless shelters in Northeast Denver brought to light a need for a stable resource in the community.

By creating a nurturing community, the Heart & Hand Center empowers all young people to realize their potential. We envision a world with no opportunity gap, where all children have access to the resources, skills, and information they need to build vibrant futures.

The Heart & Hand Center provides nurturing, long-term support for 3rd to 12th grade youth in Northeast Denver through daily after-school and summer programming using a whole child approach. What makes Heart & Hand unique are the meaningful, enduring relationships we develop with children and their families. In addition to the enriching programming we provide for young people, we also provide families with resources and referrals for critical needs such as housing, food, and emergency funding.

Summer Program and Development Intern

May 2018 - August 2018 Denver, CO
“I interned through the Denver Foundation's Non-Profit Internship Program (NPIP). I loved every part of my internship. The Denver Foundation offered a multitude of professional development opportunities and I was able to engage with a community organization from multiple perspectives. From the development side, I helped my non-profit fund raise and upkeep corporate partnerships. I also was able to work directly with the youth community that my organization served. Life-changing experience. ”
