I loved working with the students, creating the lessons, and working with other staff members, both AmeriCorps and full-time Heart House team members.
What I wish was different
I wish COVID did not make it 90% virtual and remote, so I could have experienced the true summer camp experience Heart House offers their kids.
Advice
Let your creativity shine. Also, be honest with the staff and the kids. They can tell if you’re putting on a facade.

What I liked
I enjoyed connecting with our international community through the internship. The employees at Heart House were also some of the best I've encountered, and they cleared defined job expectations.
What I wish was different
I wish the commute was not so long. I also wish the pay had been a little more substantial, but it is a non-profit with limited resources.
Advice
I would recommend this internship to other students, so long as they understood the time it would take to commute.
