The construction industry requires you to have tough skin and mentality. If you do, you will thrive, if not you will rather quickly leave the profession.

What I liked
I loved the area where we worked because it was a beautiful place to be in the United States during that time. I was also amazed by the sheer size of the project (10 square miles). I really enjoyed the fast pace of work and high volume of work we were doing. It was an industrial job, constructing a wind farm.
What I wish was different
At times, the work hours became became difficult to maintain. In my position, I worked an average of 80 hours a week for about 6 weeks straight.
Advice
Take advantage of an opportunity like this. Do everything that you can do on a project like this. I was able to experience a very large scale trenching and boring operation as well as the erection of 300' wind towers. Be curious and ask lots of questions so that you can learn!

Never underestimate the value of leadership skills and confidence in meetings. Don't be the quiet one at the table.
