Hitchiner Manufacturing

Process Engineer Intern

May - August 2019 • Milford, NH

What I liked

The people I worked with were extremely helpful and willing to help me learn. The Projects I worked on had an impact on the company and were interesting.

What I wish was different

I wish I was able to handle a larger scale project. However, the length of the internship made this difficult.

Advice

Don't be afraid to ask for help when you need it. While it may seem intimidating, the engineers at Hitchiner Manufacturing are there to help you. It is better to ask for help and do the job correctly than to not ask for help and do it incorrectly.

Industrial Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Milford, NH

What I liked

Great work environment & the freedom to work on multiple projects related to personal studies and interests.

What I wish was different

While there were twelve or so other interns, our work barely overlapped. Meeting occasionally (like every other week) to find out what the other interns were working on is something that I feel would have been beneficial to my experience.

Advice

Hitchiner was a fantastic internship. As an intern on the continuous improvement team I was able to gain experience in a relaxed but professional environment, while also contributing to large company projects in significant ways. Try to intern for the continuous improvement team.

Process Engineering Intern

May - August 2018 • Milford, NH

What I liked

The environment was very friendly and encouraging to learn and benefit from having older engineers as mentors.

What I wish was different

I had worked on projects I found personally interesting and that I was well suited for. I found my peers had projects I had to help them with frequently because they did not have the skill set I did, and I had to assist them.

Advice

Ask for projects you are interested in. All 3 facilities have tons of projects that can fit anyone's professional interests and don't be afraid to tell your boss you want a change of pace.
