What I liked

I enjoyed that there was open communication within the company. Open door policies are extremely welcoming, especially to me as an intern. I was exposed to a lot of different opportunities available within the company.

What I wish was different

There isn’t anything that I wish was different.

Advice

Be open to learning any and everything you can during your experience here. Take advantage of the open door policy and don’t be afraid to ask any questions you have.

Construction Intern

October 2018 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

The work-life balance, coworker quality, camaraderie, & development opportunities. I learned a lot on my project and everyone has been super supportive of me both professionally, personally, and in school life!

What I wish was different

Nothing. Maybe been able to see other job sites, but I was able to see so much being there on the jobsite everyday that has helped me grow exponentially.

Advice

Be yourself. Especially with a company like JE Dunn, it is one huge family and you want to make sure they are a great fit for you just as much as you are to them. ** please note when your review this, I am an intern but the things on the next page about perks and Benefits, I am putting everything the offer to full time post-college people! — you can edit this part out**

Construction Management Intern

May 2017 • Nashville, TN

What I liked

The company has an amazing culture and has a very well ran intern program. I was given responsibility from the start and continued to receive more as I proved myself.

What I wish was different

I honestly enjoyed all parts of my experience.

Advice

No matter what field you're going into or are interning in, ask questions. Ask a lot of questions. Not a day went by that I didn't ask my superintendent 10-15 questions about general construction, finance, materials, best practices, etc. You may think you're annoying them but even if you do a little bit, you're there to learn and they appreciate the diligence and curiosity.

What I liked

I liked working for JE Dunn. They had a great company culture and I felt that they really cared about their interns and they wanted us to have a positive work experience.

What I wish was different

I wish I would have been able to be on site more instead of being in the office.

Advice

I would have done more research to figure out what career path in CM I wanted my internship to be geared towards.
