Software Engineering Intern

What I liked

My internship with JLG was a great experience! I really enjoyed being a part of a company with a great culture and interesting work. As an intern you are assigned real work that provides with great learning opportunities. I learned many things that can be used in my future career.

What I wish was different

I wish that I had this internship in a non-Covid time. There are many cool aspects of the company, such as production facilities and travel opportunities, but because of Covid there were limitations. This however shows how much the company care about it's employees and their safety.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share about this experience, is to take advantage of the opportunities and learn as much as possible. There is always a learning opportunity and a chance to expand your knowledge that can be applied in future careers.

Product Develpment

June - August 2020 • Hagerstown, MD

What I liked

I was a virtual intern so I didn't know what to expect going into it. As soon as I started, they had projects for me to work on to get my feet wet. When I was ready, they gave me bigger projects to work on that actually meant something for the company. I was able to use my knowledge to 3D model multiple projects for them. The employees I work with were very knowledgeable and were able to help me if I had questions. They were there for me whenever I needed help.

What I wish was different

I wish it could've been an in-person internship but that was not under their control. I am a very hands-on person and that would've been beneficial to my learning. The only other thing was if I could've gotten a plant tour. Since the restrictions, I was not allowed to do a tour.

Advice

Communicate as much as possible. The more you communicate the better the job will go especially since it was virtual. Get to know your coworkers as much as you can, they have a lot of knowledge to share. Lastly, work hard. The harder you work the better it will look for you.
