John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum

Writer Intern

June - August 2018 • Hyannis, MA

What I liked

I enjoyed the fact that I got to interview so many people that were either a member of the Kennedy family or knew the Kennedy Family personally. Asking them about their experiences helped me become extroverted and allowed to become a much more confident speaker.

What I wish was different

One thing I wish had been different was having a much wider variety of events at the museum. For many of the articles that I wrote, they were mostly for book signings and lectures. I would have prefered much more diversity in what I had to write about, such as events related more to the museum.

Advice

One piece of advice I would share is that you should force yourself out of your comfort zone. Going into this internship, I thought I would simply be writing articles for the museum and nothing else. However, interviewing many of the guest speakers allowed me to grow more confident in my speaking capabilities, especially since I was a very quiet individual.
