Advice
When interviewing for internships or jobs, pay attention to the interviewer. In the professional world, you are selling your time to your employer. When working in a poorly managed or "toxic" work environment, there can be a mental toll which can have a large, negative impact on your life you did not initially consider when weighing the time versus your compensation.
Good employers will make you feel welcome, and treat you fairly. You will not view work as a chore, but rather an opportunity to use your brain and talents in a fulfilling way. You can often get a sense of the work environment through the interview process, and by asking questions at the end. I would come back to Karl Storz next summer, even if offered a higher salary at a different company, because I highly doubt I will find a better work environment anytime soon.
