Software Quality Assurance Engineer Intern

May - August 2019 • Santa Clara, CA

What I liked

Friendly office atmosphere; everyone was very willing to help with any problems; opportunity to interact with and learn from multiple different teams

What I wish was different

Procedures weren't very well defined and there was some confusion between teams regarding how a task should be completed. Work in progress as the company expands

Advice

Ask questions and be vocal if you're ready for more work. There was always something to do, one barrier I ran into was being afraid to overwhelm myself so I wouldn't seek out work, just wait for the assignments that had already been planned for me. I did have work to do, but had I spoken up I think I might've had a bit more to keep my busy between projects.

Full-Stack Software Engineer

June 2018 • Santa Clara, CA

What I liked

Palo Alto Networks upholds an undeniably great workplace culture. I throughly enjoyed my summer at PAN because I loved the work I was doing, the people I was working with and the positive impact of the company on society. The company motto "Protecting our Digital Way of Life" resonated with me and made PAN stand out from other technology companies within Silicon Valley where company values appear strictly financial. The trip to Great America and ferry tour of the SF bay were icing on the cake.

Advice

If you are fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to work with this company embrace every opportunity during your internship. Challenge yourself to work outside your comfort zone and make connections - you never know where they might take you.

What I wish was different

nothing

Advice

Always be ready to learn, constantly ask questions. 3 months of summer internship is honestly not a lot of time, so we should constantly be striving to learn.
