Ravago

Commercial Development Program Co-op

June - August 2019 • Maitland, FL

What I liked

One highlight was the opportunity to travel to Chicago and work alongside several account managers. For three days I shadowed multiple salespeople to multiple plastic manufacturers. Presenting on these experiences gained along with learning the internal processes of the distribution chain allowed me to better understand the goals of the company and how I could be a great employee.

What I wish was different

I wouldn't have brought my car (walked to work every day from the hotel). I wish I had visited the nearby warehouse location while in Chicago. Lastly, I believe the program is continuing to improve with more structure and more projects based on working with other employees.

Advice

In my opinion, the purpose of this internship/co-op is to determine if you and Ravago/Entec are a good fit. At an engineering co-op you likely work on a project that is similar to what you do in plastics processing labs, however at entec work is more business driven. I found myself wanting to experience more of the business side of the plastics industry and Ravago/Entec gave me that opportunity. My advice is to think of their summer co-op program as trying something different and taking advantage of the opportunity to determine if this career path is a good fit for you.
