Advice

This is a fast pace environment in which you work with people that are far more experienced then you. Respect and communication skills are key. Make sure your always speaking with the team you work on, even if it’s just a “good morning”. If you spend your internship avoiding contact with the people on the floor your not going to get work done effectively. Also, if you only show your face to give commands or ask for work to be done you’ll find more experienced workers probably will give a lot of resistance because you haven’t invested any time with building a relationship to get the respect you need to be able to get work done. No one goes out of the way to make you feel comfortable on the floor (besides your manager who can be very helpful) but if you reach out and take it upon yourself to get to know your team you’ll find that life is way easier and that people are willing to help someone who comes to them for help and is respectful. Communication is the key.
