I enjoyed working with my colleagues! Our executive director and deputy executive director took me under their wings and taught me things like Excel and Google Sheets. I learned to work independently as well as with other interns and employees. These are things that I did not have to learn in college. But what I enjoyed the most was helping constituents living throughout Duval County and finding the answers they were looking for. If I did not know the answer, I would search and even call other resources like the Duval County Supervisor of Elections. I truly enjoyed the challenge of researching and helping people!
What I wish was different
I wish that I would have had more experience going into this internship such as doing an internship while in college so I could bring more to the table.
Advice
Listen and learn from those around you and listen to the voters. Do not be afraid to ask for help and above all, do not try and answer a question if you do not know the answer. There is no shame in asking for help!
