So I worked with middle school girls and the whole program goal is to empower young girls by teaching them how to be confident and where to place their identity. I really liked that aspect because middle school is a hard time for a lot of girls when it comes down to who they are and who they want to be. I also liked the weekly activities that we did because they were crazy fun. In addition, we went on camping trips every other week to places such as the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Pictured Rocks.
What I wish was different
I wish that the camping trips were longer because I love being outside in God's creation. I wish that my boss would have given me more feed back on what I was doing well because at times I felt like a failure even though I wasn't.
Advice
Be yourself because the girls will think it is the coolest thing ever. Love the girls because they will also think it is so cool that an older girl wants to invest in their lives. Middle school girls are especially insecure, so you have to be careful with how you communicate and joke with them. Sarcasm usually does not fly with the girls that we get.
