Ripken Experience Pigeon Forge

Tournament Official

May - August 2023 • Pigeon Forge, TN

What I liked

I really liked my fellow interns and the staff. We all helped each other and it made the job more enjoyable.

What I wish was different

I wish there was a better plan for lighting and rain delays. Sometimes the games would get pushed and pushed back with no really good plan in place. I wish there was a better plan so I could tell coaches and players when they could resume playing.

Advice

One piece of advice is to make it fun, rather that is having a lot of energy saying names, or anything just make it fun it makes the experience much better.

Tournament Operations Intern

May - August 2020 • Pigeon Forge, TN

What I liked

I enjoyed the work environment and the people that I got to meet and work with. The full-time staff there always made sure we knew we were appreciated and always took the time to teach us. I learned valuable skills during my experience that I can take with me into my career.

What I wish was different

I would've liked to have a better understanding of the tournament rules so that I was a little better prepared when questions came up, but the staff was always willing to answer the questions for us so I eventually picked up on them!

Advice

I would say to do what you can to make the experience fun and memorable even when it's hot and you're tired or have to clean at the end of the day. The experience is what you make it, so make it fun!
