Rise, Inc

Direct Support Professional

April - August 2018 • Spanish Fork, UT

What I liked

I liked working with most of the clients in the Spanish Fork group home. Some of the other employees at my time of working there, were great to work with. However, this place does quickly form cliques and gossip groups. Something to keep in mind.

What I wish was different

The management at Rise, especially at this location, leaves a lot to be desired. They are not flexible with school schedules, although they claim they are. I gave them my fall 2018 school schedule when I was hired in April, yet when school started, they were completely unable to accommodate my reasonably houred classes. There are many ways an employee can get injured while on the job, some of which is not a concern to management here. Worker's compensation is very stingy and unwilling to give any compensation whatsoever. Management at this location has put their clients at risk, both mentally and physically, many times and they refuse to change. I would like to see management that is properly taking care of the clients and looking out for their best interests.

Advice

Weigh the pros and cons for yourself. If you need a flexible job for school or want to be in an environment where you can advocate for the rights of the disabled, this is not your place.
