Roboyo

Automation Engineer Intern

June - August 2020 • Atlanta, GA

What I liked

My manager was very helpful in guiding with learning how to develop automations. He helped me learn the fundamentals of the automation software and the steps for the development process. I asked a lot of questions and he was always helpful to guide me. I also worked on a project for developing an automation for a client which was a great learning experience by working together with my manager as the solution architect and a consultant.

What I wish was different

I wish the internship was in-person, but the circumstances of COVID forced the company to work remote.

Advice

Using automation software has a learning curve so make sure to take initiative during training by asking lots of questions and exploring the software.

What I liked

Roboyo is a small company and I had a chance to meet all of my co-workers (including the CEO, who is in the Nuremberg offices, but came to visit) and get to know them well. My first month in the company was purely training for a specific RPA software that the company uses. It’s an online course, but everyone around was really helpful in case I had any questions or was having trouble with something. Also, time wise, everyone was flexible and understandable. If you had to travel for leisure and had to leave earlier to get a flight, my boss wouldn’t mind as long as I fill in those missing hours on another day. We also had group events after work pretty often! Some events that I went to include: bowling, movies, and karting. After the training, I began working on projects for clients. What I liked about the internship is that I was given as much responsibility as a full-time employee. This was great because it gave me a true working experience, whereas some companies give their interns some minor tasks to work on. Being one month away from finishing my internship, I feel that my time in the company actually mattered and made a difference.

What I wish was different

I wished I would’ve come into the internship having a better programming background and having had experimented with the RPA software before.

Advice

Have a decent programming experience before starting to work. Sure, you have a month to learn about the software, but you still need to do some minor code inside the software. It will come really handy!! If you want to get a good, real-life experience in the Technical Consulting industry, Roboyo is the place for you!
