Roosevelt University - Office of Admission

Research Assistant

June - September 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I liked that I could choose which projects I invested my time into, ensuring that I cared deeply on whatever I was working on.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more of a collaborative relationship between other RA's in the office. During the summer, there are fewer Roosevelt students working at the research lab, so there are fewer opportunities to work together on a project.

Advice

I found it most rewarding that I was able to see a project through from start to finish; if possible, select your projects to meet this schedule so that you can get as much out of the experience as possible.

Research Assistant

June - August 2018 • Chicago, IL

What I liked

I got to make a meaningful contribution along all stages of the research process, and learned a lot along the way. Now I’m published on a professional paper with lots of networking connections to Chicago policy research and lobbying.

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more collaboration with other interns, but they kind of kept us separate.

Advice

Make sure you like the project you’re married to for the summer, and it’s be good to know some stats.
